Job Vacancy - Office Apprentice
With guidance from Cornwalls Young Business Person of the Year 2019
This is an exciting role for someone who has good organisational and computer skills, ambition and a desire to learn and grow.
Working under the direct leadership of Cornwalls Young Business Person of the Year 2019, Claire Mason, you will be learning the business from the ground up. Beginning your career with Kernow Fires, you will complete your apprenticeship under the guidance of Claire whilst learning the basics of office administration. You will assist Claire as she develops our systems and customer service to even higher levels and help her in her busy role of Operations Manager.
Claire came to Kernow Fires straight from full time education as an Apprentice Office Administrator. She has worked through a Customer Service and Business Administration apprenticeship and completed a Management and Leadership diploma, all whilst working full time with us! She has received support from the owner Simon Breckon and has thrived in the busy, ever developing environment which is Kernow Fires. She is kind and thoughtful, and is always committed at looking for ways to improve systems and help people manage their work load.
Development and Future
This is a unique opportunity for a young person to receive one to one mentoring from a hugely successful person who has worked their way up through a thriving local business. A great stepping stone to an awesome future! Last year we advertised the same position and are pleased to announce that Gemma, the successful candidate, has already moved on to a larger role within the company and is continuing to develop her skills, helping our business to move forward into an exciting new phase. We are proud of the work both Claire as Mentor and Gemma as Apprentice has put in and the resulting success of both ladies.
Who we are looking for:
We are specifically looking for someone with the ability to prove themselves, provide new ideas and offer support to a busy team. You must be self motivated, ensuring that all targets are met and setting your own targets beyond those required through the apprenticeship programme.
"As a company we were very fortunate that Claire chose to work with us (she had 10 offers!) and she has really made the most of every opportunity we have given her, many of which she has asked for. We would really like to be able to offer the same opportunity to another young person, giving both them and Claire the chance to grow and develop further. Claire is now considered my right hand person within the business and has a bright future ahead of her." Simon Breckon, Owner Kernow Fires
"I am looking forward to taking another new person under my wing and mentoring them throughout their apprenticeship and hopefully career at Kernow Fires! I think one of the keys to success is, once you have a solid understanding of a business, to try and look at the bigger picture. Find ways in which things can be improved, gaps in systems, training, product, any part of the business which can be developed. You then need to learn how to deliver these ideas to the team in a constructive and uncomplicated manner. It involves a lot of hard work and self development but is well worth the effort." Claire Mason, Winner of Young Business Person Of The Year Award 2019.
"'This is a varied role with plenty of scope to progress. No two days are the same and with such a fun and supportive team you will learn new skills daily. It's a great opportunity to get you on the career ladder' Gemma, Office Apprentice 2020
